FM 2030
FM 2030 (whose given name was Fereidoun M. Esfandiary) played many roles in his life: he was an Iranian Olympic basketball player, a diplomat, a university teacher, a novelist, corporate consultant, author of Are You A Transhuman? and Identity Card, and one of the leading founders of the transhumanist movement. He developed his views on transhumanism in the 1960s and evolved them over the next thirty-something years. FM-2030 was placed in cryonic suspension July 8th, 2000. Below is 2030, the full film by admirer Johnny Boston, focusing on FM-2030’s life and legacy.
David Pearce
David Pearce, thought leader, philosopher and bioethicist, is best known for his advocacy of transhumanism – the movement that seeks to enhance human capabilities through technology. Here we hear Pearce’s vision for a world where humanity transcends its biological limitations: overcoming aging, achieving radical life extension, embracing cognitive enhancement, and–quite literally–ending all suffering. Pearce is the author of The Hedonistic Imperative.
Laura Deming: Reversible Cryopreservation
Laura Deming is an inspiring example of the new generation of cryonics pioneers. Immersing herself in biogerontology at age twelve, she entered MIT at fourteen and, at seventeen, was awarded a 20 Under 20 fellowship by Peter Thiel, propelling her move into venture capital and longevity research. A Forbes’ “30 Under 30” notable, she went on to found Cradle Healthcare. Here she and co-founder discuss the timeline for reversible cryopreservation, and much more.
